Whirlpool Front Load Washer Lawsuit Claim Deadline October 2016

If you purchased a Maytag, Whirlpool, or Kenmore front loading washing machine between 2001 and 2010, you might qualify for up to $500 in cash for out of pocket expenses or a voucher for a rebate off the purchase of a new washer and dryer.

Consumers across the United States have filed a class action lawsuit against Whirlpool Corporation for mold related issues with their front loading washing machines. Class Members seek compensation for damage that they claim is the result of manufacturer defects in Whirlpool’s front loading washing machines. The court will issue a final settlement in September 2016, but consumers must submit a claim to join the suit by October 11th.

Why is there a class action lawsuit against Whirlpool front load washers?

According to a liability litigation against Whirlpool Corporation [Case No. 1:08-WP-65000 (MDL 2001)], the company is allegedly responsible for design defects in their front load washing machines that led to the accumulation of mold, mildew, and other biological debris.

The class action suit claims that the machine not only produced mold but was unable to clean itself from the mold, ultimately resulting in odors that permeated the washer, as well as consumers’ homes and clothing.

Although the court has not approved the final settlement, a hearing is scheduled for September 7, 2016, in U.S. District Court in Cleveland, Ohio.
